Maybe the last hike of the season???

We have had some unbelievable weather this fall. Last weekend was in the high 60's/low 70's and absolutely beautiful. We went on the seven bridges hike. It was a trail that we have not hiked before and very enjoyable. It was fairly shady though and a little cooler than we had anticipated so we only conquered 3 of the 7 bridges, but we'll be back for the others.

Garrett spent a good part of the weekend building a fort in the backyard. Here he is with his creation!

The kids l

Curls, please!!!

Kierstin has just discovered curlers. I think she must have heard a friend of hers talking about curlers because suddenly she wanted them...she's also heard about Hannah Tana somewhere, not going down that road yet. However, I did buy some of those spongy curlers that you sleep in and she loves to have me put her hair in curlers before bed. She looks darling with her boingy curls!!!

Zoo Boo

We went to Zoo Boo on Saturday evening. The weather was unbelievable, apparently everyone else thought so too and the whole town decided to go. It was really fun. Gavin (with Yaya's help) made a coffin and he was a ghost in a coffin....according to Gavin his costume got 43 wow, cool costume comments. Garrett was a cyborg alien. Kierstin was Tinkerbell and was able to go without a jacket for an hour or so - I couldn't convince her to wear long sleeve, because "Tinkerbell doesn't wear long sleeves."

Swim Meet

Garrett had his first swim meet last Friday. He did a great job. He loved writing numbers on his arm to identify which races he was in.

A quick trip to the zoo

The kids were out of school last Friday and it was beautiful outside, so we decided to go to the zoo. Gavin missed out because he was at a friends house, but I'm pretty sure he was good with that!

Field Trip - Gavin

Gavin's class went on a field trip to the Cliff Dwellings and Museum of Mining and Industry. I accompanied them! It was fun and interesting. I love seeing the kids outside the school setting, get a real feel for what they're really like!

Las Vegas

At the end of September, Darin went to a conference in Las Vegas. I tagged along and went to the wax museum (apparently the only time I had my camera in tow). The highlight of my trip, though, was seeing the Mamma Mia musical.....it was amazing and fun and funny! I would highly recommend it! We also went to Phantom of the Opera.

Kierstin

Gavin has started playing the trombone.....here's Kierstin giving it a go!

Kansas

In September, the kids and I took a weekend trip to Kansas. It was so fun to see everyone!!! Thanks to all of you who hung out with us! We saw this beautiful field of sunflowers on our way home from Kansas. Garrett was oooohing and aaaahing for sometime over this field!

We went to a party in the park where Nancy was advertising her business Curiosities. The kids had a great time running around, getting their faces painted, playing with balloon swords, and jumping on moon bounces.

Kierstin with Hello Kitty, aka Nancy.

Kierstin and her pal, Jackson. Check out his little brother, Will, he's like, "Okay already guys, I get it, I'm the third wheel!"

Garrett and his best friends for life....Brady and Colby.... and a shout out for Brady's little brother Camden!

A good use for army uniforms

So, the question of what to do with all those old army uniforms has been answered....set them out in the garage for your kids and their friends to dress up in. Especially those expensive dress blues that you were required to have during internship (the poorest time in your adult life) and never wore again!!

Soccer

Garrett has been playing soccer again this fall. He really enjoys it and is getting to be a pretty good little player.
