Mexico

Darin and I went on a little Mexico trip over Labor Day weekend with some friends. We had a great time. The weather was great. We just lounged by the pool and enjoyed some uninterrupted conversations!

Gymnastics

Kierstin is taking gymnastics and loves it. She goes with her best friend, Stefan. After the first few classes, Kierstin asked me, "Mommy, now can I take ballerina lessons?" I said, "Maybe sometime soon, but we just started gymnastics and Stefan is in gymnastics with you." She said, "Stefan could take ballerina lessons too. I could wear a pretty pink ballerina dress and Stefan could wear a blue one!"

Farkly shoes

Wow!! Aren't they lovely....Kierstin's pride and joy. Whenever Kierstin sees shoes she has to try them on, doesn't matter if they are 10 sizes too big or small! She found these lovely 'farkly' (sparkly for those of you who don't speak Kierstinese) shoes at Target. She tried them on, walked around, looked down and said, "Mommy, aren't these boootiful?" Well, how could I not buy them? So, now she's a VERY proud owner of pink, farkly shoes.

First Day of School 2008

Here are the boys off to their first day of school! Their teachers are both incredible and the year is off to a fantastic start.

Memoirs of a Cabbage Patch Geisha!

While my sister was visiting, Kierstin came prancing into the living room wearing her cabbage patch doll's boots. I guess this is how you walk if your feet are bound as a baby!

Pikes Peak Ascent

My sister and her husband came for a quick, rainy visit to Colorado Springs in mid August. They were here to run up Pikes Peak in the annual race for crazy folk!! Apparently the weather this year was the worst EVER...this race has been taking place for over 50 years and they get the worst weather, unbelievable. There were two waves in the race...Windy and Dave were in the second wave. Dave made it to the top after being rained on for the the entire race, being pelted with hail, and frozen like a popsicle. Windy made it to the "A-frame", which is mile 10, just 3 miles from the top....unfortunately they started turning people around about 5 minutes before she got there due to nasty weather....so, lucky Windy got to run 20 miles instead of the 13 she had planned on! Windy was pretty irritated that she was so close to finishing, so hopefully she'll come out next year to finish it!!!

Back to blogging

Wow....my last posting was July 10?? Where did the last 3 months go? After a crazy summer of moving, we are finally settled....well, not completely but enough that I feel like I can get on the computer for a minute. I thought about getting back to the blog about a month ago, but then Kierstin spilled water on our Macbook, which just happened to have all our pictures on it!!!!!!!!!!! Ugggg, after that incident I was so depressed I couldn't bear the idea of blogging. I still haven't recovered the photos, but we have friends that are going to help with that. Meanwhile, I haven't downloaded any photos from my camera since the water incident....guess I need to bite the bullet and do it. Hopefully in the next few days you (especially Nancy) will be able to view some new photos!

A long break

We just got back from 2+ weeks in Utah. We spent the first half of our trip in Richfield with Darin's family. We were able to visit Bryce Canyon, ride horses (thanks Chris and Camille), eat lots of ice cream from the dairy and Creamies (yummy Utah treat for those of you who aren't in the know), play the old style Nintendo (super nintendo I think) with Uncle Greg, fire off some fireworks, visit with great grandparents, play and relax.
Then we went to the cabin to see Misty's parents. Windy and Dave flew in from Phoenix for the 4th. We played cards, went for walks, saw a moose or 2, ran a 5k (Windy, Dave and I), went to the Oakley Rodeo, went to a fun festival in Park City, a concert in Deer Valley, and more playing and relaxing. Darin's parents and brother came up for a visit. Darin, his dad, Greg, Windy and Dave went for an adventurous hike and camp extravaganza one night in the Uintahs. Oh and fishing, there seemed to be a lot of fishing this trip!

Seven Falls

We also took Devon to Seven Falls. It is a beautiful area in S. Cheyenne Canyon. After climbing a steep 224 stairs while looking at breathtaking waterfalls, you are able to go on a couple of different hikes. We chose to hike to midnight falls. Devon was a great hiker and I asked him if he liked hiking and he said, "Yes!!" Then I asked him if his mom likes to hike. He said, "Um, not really, she's not really a 'nature' girl." That about sums it up!! Garrett and Kierstin were trying hard to find some poison ivy, luckily neither of them found any! We did enjoy smelling the pine trees, looking at bugs, trying to find bear marks on trees, looking at wasps nests, and spotting different plants like columbine, lichen and moss.
